i'm not actually materialistic compared to others my age (i am a 16 year old girl, from the uk) i don't want/need clothes all the time, i don't think that my life would be better if "i owned the whole of topshop."

I also think that beauty comes from within, that consumerism is taking over the world and people are too obsessed with the internet nowadays. However, sometimes i desire something, like an item of clothing, or a poster, or some paint.. well not sometimes, quite a lot really. I have been reading up on Buddha and he teaches that desire is wrong. I can't help desiring things, can i? it's hard because if i don't have the right clothes, the right things, then i don't fit in. I don't mind about being different, but i don't want to be laughed at, to be the girl who always wears the same jumper and jeans. I wish that the world didn't care about things like this but it does, and the sad thing is, i do actually care about it as well. I'd be lying if i said that i don't want pretty clothes, that i don't want my make-up to look nice. Does that make me a bad person? i'm a really big worrier, and i look to others for influence. I see some people and i think, yeah they have the right attitude, they want to live their life.

But then i see others, and i pity them almost, and think hmm you care too much about your image and about how cool you come across. I think that this makes me worse than what i think of them, because doesn't it mean that i think that i'm better than them!? i want the world to care less about materials and possessions, but i don't think it matters if you care to a certain amount, just as long as it doesn't take control of your mind; as long as it isn't the reason you live. I don't even know what i'm asking, it's just i've typed some of the thoughts i've been having lately and i just..don't know.

Also, as i've been reading up on Buddha, i started to think about reincarnation. It seems like it could be likely, but i'm scared that i'd be reincarnated to a materialist or a really hugely obese person ( i think that obesity is awful, not necessarily always the person who is obese, just obesity in general.) ....i'm just constantly worrying and worrying.

omg ! thankyou for being a decent person !!! many teenagers nowadays are so vain and such (I think I am) Beauty does come from within , you have such a good outlook on life ! I don't think when Buddha says that you shouldnt desire things , I think it is absolutly fine to need things , like new school shoes every year, to need food , a tshirt is absolutely fine because your a teenage girl , shopping is a rather big part of your thoughts because even though you may not think about it , it is still there !
people do care about how they look because they want to leave a good impression about themselves , some people do it to get a job (wear their hair up and a bit of makeup to look sofistacated) to accept a medal (a little bit of make up) some girls are very self obsessed but everyone is different , some people feel increadably self conscious due to acne , chicken pocks scars or facial hair !

if you reincarnate I am sure that you will become a good person , if you lead a good life , not judging people or getting a bad name for yourself . I am sure you will be fine !
I know it's hard to look at someone with millions of shopping bags and makeup but that's there way of life , all you can do is say to yourself that your thankful that you are not like that !

do you where makeup ? (it's fine if you do because makeup isn't everything , it just covers up blemishes , lengthens eyelashes and puts a bit of colour into a face !

I don't really know what your question is but I hope I had cleared things up for you !! xxx

Anyone interested in the 'galerians'?

Right, I'm thinking about putting english subtitles into a film that I watched a while ago that is based on the actual events happening right now.

In Poland for about 2 years a new trend came in. Kids in Poland have it much different than in UK/USA, their parents usually don't have too much money etc. 'Galerians' are pretty much teenage prostitutes, but they don't consider themselves ones. They go into malls (in Poland they're usually called 'galleries', so that's why the girls are called 'gallerians') and pretty much 'hunt down' rich men to buy them clothes etc for sex or similar. The prize their get can vary from a cheap hairband to a D&G bag...

The film doesn't contain any really exposive scenes because it was aimed at teenagers 13+ so...

Anyways, the film is about a shy, typical grey girl who gets involved with 3 very popular girls in the school, who are the gallerians. the story just goes on, I won't run into details, but if I would put subtitles into the film, would you be interested in watching it?

If yes then say so, and if you want to subscribe as well, but that's your choice cause I'll re-post this when I'm finished translating it (which should be in about 2 days).

Tell me what you think!
