backpacks for kids in walmart image
Maureen
Has anyone seen them in Target? Toys R Us? K-mart? Value City? Kohls? Walmart?
I see them on e-Bay but am hoping to find them locally, to avoid the shipping charges.
Have you seen them in any local midwest stores? Thanks!
Answer
A few weeks ago, when we were back to school shopping with the kids, I saw them at TJ Maxx. I'm not sure if you have that there, but they had a pretty big selection.
Also, amazon.com has some, and their shipping rates are relatively cheap.

Does anyone have any organization strategies that have had good results?

I need to organize my kid's backpack, and a typical 12 year old's room.
Answer
for the backpack, get things like, a traperkeeper, to keep all of his/her papers in neatly so they dont get ripped, or lost. and next, a pencil bag, to put all of their pencils, crayons, sharpeners, etc. make sure they also have pockets in the bookbag to keep things like money, and other personals.
for the room, get some rollaway storage containers that look good in a room, and can stack. so then your child can put things like, games, or makeup toys, little odds and ends in, and it will be right where they can reach, and they wont have it a mess all over the floor.
for the dresser, try to find little baskets, that you can get at walmart for pretty cheep, and put things like barettes, hair tyes, and stuff like that in them, or if you have a boy, then you can put his deodorant, valuables, in them.
small mason jars work great for putting pencils and pens in
try finding a small desk (if you havent already) and your child can use that for doing homework on in their room, and it will keep them more organized, and will make them do better in school. when i was in school, i had a desk, and it helped me do my school work more, because i was able to get away from noise, so i wasnt easily distracted.
get a shoe rack for their shoes, and you can hide it in their closet
get vacume sealable bags that you can put their winter, summer clothes in (or the clothes that they dont wear) and hide it under the bed, this will also save room.
well, i hope this helps! and good luck to you!
