Apollonia
I graduated from college in 2007 and haven't been in school for a good while - which means I threw away my old LL Bean book bag. Now that I'm starting Grad School part time, I'm looking for a cute bag to use just to carry my books from the car to class. I'm not looking for a huge book bag to put over my shoulders, but something simple and stylish that won't cost an arm and a leg - like my education. :/
Thanks!

Needs Tips/Advice to survive the high school that I hate.?
Its Brando
I'm 14 and I'm a Freshmen, I was looking forward to High School but it's nothing like people were going to say it was, I hate it 10 times more than I did middle school...I want to be successful in life and Graduate, but it's so tough so far and just having to deal with it is to hard, I have to stick with this school too, my mom loves living where we are now. Here's a list why I hate going to school and why it's so hard to learn:
-Students who play sports get away with most stuff and don't have to do much work cause their fucking coach backs them up, which makes me so mad.
-The kids at this school are extremely immature, I can't focus in class and all the teacher says is "Stop Please" but doesn't work.
-Teachers always go off topic...males talk about their day at hunting etc and the female ones talk about shopping and if we talk back we get in trouble, most of us are like in our mind "Shut up about that and teach us!"
-I have a small group of friends, They have B lunch and I have A lunch so I sit by myself, and these annoying kids always make faces at me and annoy the shit out of me.
-School lunch sucks.
-I'm a type of person who doesn't care at all what people think about me. but if it comes to people attacking me I will defend myself and other people getting bullied...but everyone involved in it will get in trouble.
-So much Homework, and the worksheets they give us doesn't even have anything to do with the Lesson we're on! I understand they need to give us a bit of it, but they give us so much!
-This school if you want respect you have to look normal, this new kid came in and he's different from everyone else, so kids talk about him and make him feel down, and it makes me feel bad too.
-School counselor doesn't do Jack Shit.
-Our lockers are pretty small, and they give us so many books and we need a lot of notebooks, and our new dumbass principal banned backpacks.
-Students related to faculty cuss at us, we tell on them the student lies and gets away with it.
-Middle school and Elementary was 4 to a table, but this High School's chair hurt my back so much.
-Got in trouble 2nd week of school for something I was BARELY involved with cause lots of snitches at this school.
Only thing I like to do here is talk to my small group of REAL friends, which we get something called Break time to buy snacks and stuff and chill. (1 dollar for a bag of chips too, Rip off. -.-)
I know I have to deal with it, but I was looking forward to High School but it's nothing like I was going to expect it to be, so does anyone have Tips/Advice to survive/not have such a bad time at school?
Thanks.
Answer
I know how you feel. High school can be hard and I had a similar situation.
First off: I know a lot of students who play sports get away with more, but don't let that affect you. It hurts them more then it hurts you because in the long run, you'll be the one with a better career and not to mention the smarter one (:
Second: High school students are ALWAYS going to be immature and that made me so mad! So what i did was find a few people who took school seriously like i did, and whenever we had to do a project or I didn't get the homework, I had someone to work it out with me!
Third: When teachers are bad at teaching you can report them to the school and if enough people complain something will happen. OR just start teaching yourself as much as you can (I know it sucks, but it works)
Fourth: Bring your own lunch maybe? I started doing that and it helps a lot because you know it's actually edible unlike whatever they serve at school and if there's anyone else sitting alone go sit with them! otherwise just try to find a few new people to talk to so you'll have someone for lunch.
Fifth: It's better to get in trouble for something you believe in then to not doing anything at all. If you don't want to get in trouble, seek the person out who was getting bullied and just be their friend. I was bullied before and that's all i really wanted.
Sixth: Homework does get to be a bit much, but if you do it either in class (if you teach yourself it works best) you can ask the teacher for help or you can do it right away when you get home. School books and the internet help a lot. Google your questions and it can help give step by step instructions sometimes.
Seventh: Go talk to the kid who is bullied because he doesn't fit in. If he's in your lunch, sit with him. You'd be a hero in his eyes and it would be the nice thing to do.
Eight: If the school counselor won't help, is there a teacher you like, or an adult you trust? I.e your mom? Trust me, adults are good to talk to, they can usually help with anything!
Ninth: The backpacks being banned sucks and is stupid?! But just make more stops at your locker and you should be okay, It's hard to change that one.
Tenth: Ignore stupid kids, they are everywhere and they suck. Don't let them get to you.
Eleventh: Just keep to yourself and your group of friends and be your own barrier to the mean ones.
Check if your school has either online class, PSEO (depending on where you live you can take college course, at a college or online and it counts for high school as well) or see if you can change to another school in your district without moving. You would just have to find a way to get there!
Or if you have AP classes and are willing to put in a lot of work and time to do them, there is usually more serious kids in those classes.
Good luck! I Hope it all gets better (:
