Usually your school will give you a list, or you can find them at a local WalMart, Staples and sometimes Kmart. It's best to get a list of what's required from your (child's) school or new teacher.
BASICS-
Writing:
No. 2 pencils (Parents should stick to the basics here, when they get fancy pencils, it becomes a 'that's mine' event.)
Colored pencils
Pencil sharpener (hand held with a top to collect shavings)
Large pink eraser (These good old ones do the best erasing. The fancy ones look good but don't erase well.)
Ballpoint pens
Box of crayons (16-pack for younger kids, more for older ones. Parents need to think how their child can organize and care for their supplies before buying them the mega box of things.)
Water-based markers
Spiral bound or composition notebooks
Loose-leaf notebook paper
Note: Teachers can be picky about paper. Schools usually supply specially ruled handwriting paper to help younger children with letter formation. Older children use wide-ruled paper.

Box for storing supplies
Highlighters
Index cards, ruled and unruled (for making flash cards, notes).
A sturdy, supportive backpack
Note: Some schools do not permit rolling backpacks because of space considerations, so check with your school before considering this option.

4-oz. bottle of white glue

What are things that freshman do that annoy upperclassmen?

i'm going into high school this fall and i always here about these things that freshman do that always annoy the older kids. i obviously don't want to be one of those annoying freshman that does a bunch of stupid things so what things should i not do so that i won't be annoying? longest list gets best answer

Okay in my personal experience i would have to say is when freshman act immature and try to be cool. Try avoiding trying to be funny and just be yourself. Freshman sometimes try to act like they're cool and like they know everything.
1)Dont try to be funny
2)dont act cool and snobby you'll get a bad rep
3)dont do things to satisfy others such as cut class, be disrespectful to girls or teachers, be rude to a teacher, curse or start drama
4)if you make a varsity team dont brag about it to your friends
5)Act your age and dnt act like a middle schooler! some freshman can be over immature and sometimes you think people are laughing with you but they're just laughing at you
6) Don't go all ready like with 500 notebooks and freshly sharpened pencils lol thats just a don't, I hate seeing that like no the first day of school bring 1 notebook because i guarantee you, you will not do anything but meet teachers and go to classes. So then the teachers will tell you what they want so at that point you can bring only what teachers ask for!
7) Never depend on one friend. so socialize with everyone in the class that way you'll have more than one friend and options to sit in lunch.
8.) Don't roll your eyes (bad rep)
9) Dont brag about ANYTHING!
10.Dont go with HUGE humongous backpacks. or backpacks with like designs and that llook like theyre from kmart. If your a boy a simple Northface or Jansport will do! If your a girl * manyy girls dont use backpacks or bookbags they use purses and hold the books or simply a tote you can buy them at American Eagle they're affordable and cute,
11.) dont be a teachers pet the first day everyone hates that!
12.) But dont break the rules either just be a normal student. talk if your talked to by a teacher though.
