I have seen many high schoolers carrying Jansport Superbreak backpacks. They come in an array of colors and patterns. The Superbreak is fine if you are not going to carry many notebooks and textbooks. Otherwise, I would get the big student, merit or even the right pack models. They should be just fine for a high school kid.

I just started grad school and I have used the same backpack since high school, I kid you not. LL bean's backpacks are indestructible!!!
