Answer
A few idea's:
Okay so most girls at my high school use big bags like you said because we have to bring our gym clothes, after school clothes (sports), lunches, ect.
So i bring on the days i have no after school activites and no gym class my vera bradley bookbag. I carry it and then when i go to lunch my lunch is in it, along with my normal things in my purse.
Another idea would be an across the chest bag. I have a coach one. They are around 100 dollars and are very in. you can put just the few things you need need in it for the day if you do not want to bring a purse. A lot of girls not just at school but in magazines ect. are using these.
Finally there is the big bag. Victoria Secrets Pink is a brand we all use. I have a Marc Jacobs one i caught on sale. American Eagle, Hollister, or Forever 21 will have one also that is trendy.
As far as the backpacks go we all use Northface. They are 100 to 200 dollars and are very in. you can order them online or get them from a sporting goods store like Dick's ect.
Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Answer
Hi! I'm going to be a sophmore, so I hope this helps! You can just take bit and pieces of what I suggest, you don't have to implicate everything of course, I just hope this can help in some way!
Supplies:
Backpack
You want something durable, I think that you should invest in a backpack that you will use for two, three, or all four years. Jansport, Vera Bradley, and North Face are GREAT brands. J And I really like using brands like that rather than the super cute ones from stores like Brandy Mellville and Steve Madden, just because they're expensive, but not really worth it. I don't think that they are big or durable, although very cute.
Lunchbag and Pencil Case:
Tin lunch boxes always break and don't last too long. I like target lunch bags, I have a cow one and it's so cute! Some upperclassman had it too! We've gotten to the age where we can have the cute adorable lunch boxes. For pencil cases I love using Forever 21 cosmetic cases! I think that this one is super cute and big! http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product⦠I also really like five star ones, because they have multiple pockets.
Writing Implements (And other stuff in a pencil case):
If you can go to a costco there's a really good pack that has everything you need. But otherwise, my favorite thing to do is buy the 26 pack of BIC pencils, a few packs of lead 0.7 lead, and Papermate Clear Point pencils. I love the BIC Brite liner hilighters, they last the longest, but buy two packs, just in case! For pens I like the erasemate pens, but only for blue and black. I love writing my notes for math in them! Also for colored pens I like Papermate Inkjoy. Mini staplers are a great thing to have because I feel like teachers never have them! Also your teachers may want colored pencils, I took biology last year so I had used them a lot. Instead of buying new ones, just look around your house and get some colors together. You can get cheap sharpeners for a buck at target! Always be sure to have an extra eraser, like a pink pearl.
Binders:
I have 4 core classes, and then I have two classes that switch for the semesters. They're basically electives, besides the fact that I can't chose them. So I double all of my binders. So I have two core binders, since I keep two classes per a binder. Then I have a binder for my 'electives'. All of my binders are re-used 1 inch binder. I put in some collages from Seventeen magazine. I bought a pack of those dividers that have pockets in them, and I put one per a subject in the binders. Then I have three normal dividers behind each one. The bigger divider is for tests/quizzes. The three dividers are for notes, homework, and classwork/handouts. For my 'elective' binder, I just have one big divider, and three normal dividers. I have two binders at home that have two dividers each in them, each representing a class. Every month or so, or after ever quarter I clean out my binders and put the papers into the at home binders. I do this so that when it comes time to study for finals, I have everything that I could possibly need. At the end of each semester I throw out every paper, unless my second semester final is cumulative.
I have 3 Five Star folders. They are plastic with three prongs, which is where I keep loose-leaf paper. Each side of the folder represents a class. Here I keep my homework or recent papers that my teachers have given me. I realized that notebooks are only necessary for classes such as History, Science, and Math. However I don't have too many history lectures at my high school. So I have 4 Five Star notebooks. One is left over from last year, and the others new. I like Five Star products because of how durable they are. I really NEED durable supplies.
Don't forget locker shelves! I think two is a good amount. To keep everything separate from each other.
