Q. On November 12, my husband and I will be flying with our three daughters. The flight will only be a few hours. We bought tickets for the two oldest girls (will be 3 when we go), but our youngest (will be 14 months) is going to switch between sitting on my husbands lap and my lap. They each have little backpacks, but I have no clue what to put in them. What kind of clothes should they wear? What should we bring? Two out of three are potty trained. One is still in diapers.
MY QUESTIONS:
What should the girls wear?
What should we bring in our carry - ons?
ANything we should buy?

My children have been frequent flyers since the age of 13 weeks and they now aged 7 & 4 get on a plane as easy as getting in a car! Mine take a backpack with crayons, colouring book, plain paper for drawing, a couple of story books and a couple of little toys (cars, dolls, teddy etc)! The most important thing is to keep them occupied - draw with them, read them stories and play, don't let them get bored. With regards clothing; keep them comfortable! They'll think of it as a big adventure!! Good luck!!

How do you keep your toddler from running off in public?
Saucy Gal
My daughter is 22 mos and is usually well behaved, but here recently everytime I put her down in public she takes off running. We do use a stroller and sometimes even a backpack leash thing but they are not always practical. She will hold hands for a minute but then tries to run away. Maybe she likes me chasing her and thinking its a game???

This is what I do with my 15 month old. I take a pram with me and I tell her very clearly at the beginning of the trip that she can be a big girl and walk beside Mummy or she is in the pram. If she dosnt walk with me and hold my hand it is straight into the pram.
Also I practise at home sometimes. We go for walks along the street holding hands. Again I tell her at the beginning of the walk that she is to hold my hand or we will go home. If she packs a tanty and tries to run off I pick her up and take her straight home. I only had to do this 2-3 times and now she walks along nicely with me on our walks
Still struggling with the public thing a bit but she is getting better. The key is consistancy. Show her that you will not tolerate running off. As soon as she does it she is in the pram, shopping trolley or what ever. If you have to pick her up and take her home then thats fine too. I know its frustrating to do but you wont have to do it forever as long as you are consistant now. Good luck.
