Should I have reported this potential pervert at Toys R Us?

I was at Toys R Us with my son this evening and I saw this very suspicious looking young man in his early 20s. He was scrawny, unshaven and dirty looking with greasy hair, big nerdy glasses and he was wearing very odd clothes: A dirty ski jacket with a backpack, a plaid shirt and tie and weirdest of all, big plaid fleece sweat pants and one black shoe and one white shoe. He looked like a textbook example of a socially crippled pervert.

I noticed him several times hanging around where there were unsupervised children. He carried a toy under his arm and periodically he would toss the toy on a random shelf and pick up another one. At one time I was about 10 feet away from my son and this guy came walking over but he turned and left when I came up to my son.

I thought about reporting him but I did not do it. Now I feel worried that he might have been looking for a child to abduct or molest. There was a case about a year ago in my town where a kid was molested in the bathroom of a busy pizza buffet place while his parents ate dinner so it's not like it is completely unlikely he actually was a pervert.

What should I have done about this guy?

There is absolutley no evidence in your description whatsoever which shows that this man is any more likly to be a potential pervert than you are. It may be true that some kid was being molested in a bathroom while the parents were failing to supervise the said child but it is also true that many innocent men have had their lives ruined by people like you who make stupid unfounded assumptions.
